Among a certain set of poker players on the south coast of England, the hand King-5 has become known as “the Hog Roast”, or just “the Hog”. No-one has any idea why, it just happened, but given that we all hate the numerous ridiculous nicknames that hands have, (9-5 “Dolly Parton” for example), sarcasm was probably in order.  Another hand I considered for a blog name is Jack-4 suited, which has become known as “the Belt” by another set of guys I play with. There is a reason for this, but it’s a long story and would lose a lot in the telling, so I wont bother.

This is the blog of a semi-serious but definitely amateur poker player at the WSOP 2007 and beyond. The lows, lows and further lows of a player well out of his depth, and his quest for a gold bracelet
